Design Metrics is an architecture studio rooted in Alibag, on the Konkan coast of Maharashtra. We design villas, farmhouses, landscapes, and interiors tuned to coastal climate, monsoon patterns, and the slower rhythm of living outside the city.
Building in Alibag is not the same as building in the city. Salt air attacks fittings, the monsoon arrives hard and sideways, plots are often irregular, and the good contractors are booked seasons in advance. Design that ignores any of this ages badly within a few years.
Our studio is here, which changes how a project runs. We can walk a plot before drawing on it, read how light and breeze actually move across it, and stay close to site while it is being built — instead of managing a coastal project from three hours away.
Most of our Alibag work is residential: second homes for families based in Mumbai and Pune, full-time coastal residences, and farmhouse plots that get built in phases as budgets allow. We plan for that phasing openly rather than pretending a project is one single push.
